Answer
In Northern Ireland Translink has developed plans to reduce the dependency on fossil fuels moving its bus and rail fleets towards zero emission, zero carbon technologies. The company continues to engage with manufacturers to look at different technology options including electrification, hydrogen, battery and bi-mode options for rail.
In coming months, I will be working to identify actions to support the decarbonisation of transport, taking into account the new Executive’s wider Programme for Government and commitments made within the New Decade, New Approach agreement in relation to climate change.
