Answer

£90m non-recurrent funding has been made available to Health and Social Care Trusts (HSCTs) in 2021/22 to help reduce waiting times for outpatient assessments, diagnostic tests and treatments. This funding has been used to secure additional capacity, both in-house and in the independent sector, across a range of elective specialties.

The breakdown of allocation to each HSCT is outlined in the following table:

Trust2021/22
Total £m
BHSCT32.89
NHSCT9.77
SEHSCT21.54
SHSCT11.13
WHSCT12.40
Total Non-recurrent87.74

The balance of the available funding (i.e. £2.26m) is being utilised on a regional basis to undertake endoscopy procedures and to enable a range of outpatient assessments and day case procedures to be undertaken in primary care settings.
