Answer
The Fair Employment (School Teachers) Act 2022 (Teachers Act) came into effect on 12th May 2024. Responsibility for fair employment monitoring, including that of teachers, rests with the Equality Commission for NI (ECNI).
To date, no assessment has been made of the impact of the Teachers Act.
TEO officials will remain engaged with ECNI and the Department of Education as necessary regarding the smooth implementation of the Teachers Act.
